Leading UK-based distributor Banijay Rights has this week confirmed that NTV Mongolia is the latest broadcaster to commission its supernatural entertainment format Psychic Challenge. The 20 episode, hour long series is being produced by NTV and is currently airing on Saturday and Sunday nights.
The format has been a hit across the Central and Eastern European region with a successful relaunch on Estonia’s TV3 last year. Psychic Challenge, which was originally created by TéVé Media Group and Nordisk Film and Television, has also been recommissioned for a second season. The long-running format also continues to be at the heart of the schedules for both TNT Russia (17 seasons) and STB Ukraine (16 seasons).
Joining Psychic Challenge on Banijay’s entertainment slate is Saved By The Angels, a brand new format from Nordisk Sweden, in which a celebrity psychic meets survivors of near-death experiences and looks at the role of guardian angels in their incredible escape. The primetime format was a hit for TV7 in Sweden this spring, and a second season has already been commissioned. Also from Banijay is Sensing Murder a psychic investigation format which returned successfully to TVNZ New Zealand in March of this year. The show was first adapted in New Zealand in 2006, but after eleven years remains as popular as ever.
Bayarbat Ariunbold, CEO of NTV, commented, “Psychic Challenge is the first entertainment format that we have acquired at NTV. The format has wide appeal and we are sure that our viewers throughout Mongolia will become big fans of the show.”
Andrew Sime, VP Formats at Banijay Rights, added, “Leading broadcasters in many parts of the Central and Eastern European region have had considerable long term success with this evergreen format and we are thrilled to see Psychic Challenge extend its range even further by moving into Mongolia.”
