Carrie-Anne Moss to star in premium Norwegian drama wisting

1 March, 2018

Banijay Rights, the leading distribution arm of Banijay Group, alongside Cinenord and Good Company Films, confirmed today that award-winning actress Carrie-Anne Moss has joined the cast of high-end Norwegian crime drama Wisting.
Well known for her role in the science fiction film trilogy The Matrix as character Trinity, Moss will play an FBI Agent in the 10 x 45’ Scandinavian drama, which is commissioned by MTG for its Nordic streaming service Viaplay and flagship entertainment channel TV3, and German broadcaster ARD.  Banijay Rights officially came on board last month acquiring the international rights to this ambitious series.
Canadian-born actress Carrie-Anne Moss also starred in the recent Marvel series Jessica Jones, Oscar-nominated feature film Chocolat and Christopher Nolan’s thriller Memento, for which she won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress.

British actor Richie Campbell (Anuvahood, The Frankenstein Chronicles) also joins the cast in the role of an FBI agent.  Carrie-Anne and Richie will share the screen with leading Norwegian theatre and movie actor Sven Nordin (Lilyhammer). Filming for the series has already begun in southern Norway.

“To be a part of something with this kind of calibre is exciting for me. Characters and stories created through the lens of Scandinavia’s expert perspective, alongside working with actors such as Sven Nordin, make this a thrilling project for me. Plus, it made watching the Winter Olympics even more fun – go team Norway!!!” comments Carrie-Anne Moss.

Chris Stewart, VP of Sales and Acquisitions at Banijay Rights, said “We’re delighted that Carrie-Anne Moss and Richie Campbell have added their names to the amazing creative talent pool attached to Wisting; further evidence of the truly international credentials of this fantastic series.”

Wisting is created and directed by Katarina Launing (Kick It!) and Trygve Allister Diesen (The Third Eye), written by Trygve Allister Diesen and Kathrine Valen Zeiner (Eyewitness), and produced by Cinenord Drama AS and Denmark’s Good Company Films.

“We are delighted that Moss has joined the cast of Wisting. She captivated us with her superb and iconic portrayal of Trinity in The Matrix, and her stellar work on the small screen recently in Jessica Jones.  We are convinced that she will bring the same fierceness, intensity and intelligence to the role of FBI agent Maggie Griffin. We look forward to working with her,” added Wisting directors Trygve Allister Diesen and Katarina Launing.

Set to be the biggest drama ever produced in Norway, the first season of Wisting is based on two of the books in the renowned literary series by Jørn Lier Horst, ‘The Hunting Dogs’ and ‘The Caveman’.

The ten-part series follows homicide detective Wisting as he wrestles with the most challenging and shocking case of his career: a wanted American serial killer living among them! Meanwhile, Line – Wisting’s intrepid journalist daughter – is chasing headlines, leading her straight into the path of the serial killer. Suddenly, an old case comes back to haunt Wisting, and a dreadful accusation is hurled at him. How will Wisting save other lives when he finds himself suspended and fighting for his own reputation, career and life?
