    Banijay today confirms Endemol France, part of Banijay France, will produce MasterChef for France 2. Hosted by popular French presenter, Agathe Lecaron, Yves Camdeborde, Thierry Marx, Georgiana Viou are confirmed as judges.

    Setting out on a nationwide search, the new series of MasterChef aims to find the best amateur cook in France. Contestants will face numerous challenges as they aim to impress the judges with their skill, passion, and creativity. Only the best chefs will continue their journey.

    The life-changing culinary format has been adapted in 64 territories to date and celebrated its 500th series globally in 2021. In 2021, 49 productions aired across 33 territories, and most recently, it enjoyed a hugely successful return in Portugal, with the New Zealand and South African reboots set to air later in the year.

    Viaplay will bring the world-famous reality format Celebrity MasterChef to the Netherlands for the first time starting this autumn. The 12-episode first season, produced by SimpelZodiak, a Banijay Benelux company, sees 10 Dutch personalities taking on a series of culinary challenges in front of an all-star jury and competing to become the next Celebrity MasterChef. Viaplay launched in the Netherlands on 1 March with a unique combination of original productions, international films and series, kids content and premium live sports.

     

    The Celebrity MasterChef jury consists of Soenil ‘The Spicy Chef’ Bahadoer, founder of the renowned De Lindehof restaurant, which received its second Michelin star in 2014; Angélique Schmeinck, one of only two female Dutch Mastercooks (the most country’s most prestigious culinary title) and head chef for 12 years at the Michelin-starred De Kromme Dissel; and Joël Broekaert, a well-known food critic, columnist and TV host.

     

    The show’s 10 celebrity contestants will be announced shortly.

    Produced by Homebrew Films, MasterChef South Africa has started casting for a new season that will launch on M-Net in February 2022, having last aired on the channel in 2015.

     

    MasterChef South Africa returns to inspire and shape the next generation of food stars. Season four will be filmed at the foot of Table Mountain, in a dynamic new location that celebrates both the heritage and the most innovative of South Africa’s diverse culinary offering.     Banijay today announces that its hit format MasterChef has surpassed an incredible 500 series since its reboot in 2005, reaching this milestone with the first-ever MasterChef Tamil, which is currently on air.

     

    The multi-award winning, iconic cookery show created by Franc Roddam has been wowing audiences for more than thirty years. Crowned the Most Successful Cookery Television Format by Guinness World Records in 2017, there have been 64 local versions to-date and more than 10,000 episodes have aired around the world, in addition to the milestone 500 seasons. Last year alone, despite filming restrictions, there were 43 productions across 30 markets.

    The original series of Masterchef was first seen on the BBC in 1990 and ran for 11 years. In 2005 Franc Roddam, in partnership with Shine TV, reconceived the format for BBC Two, which then moved on to BBC One in 2009. In the same year, Australia became the first territory to adapt the format, with the season finale being the country’s most-watched television programme of the year. Over a decade on, the territory’s remake is still enjoying huge success, with it being named the Most In-Demand Reality Series of 2020 (Parrot Analytics).

    Banijay today announces a four-season commission of MasterChef in India. All four seasons will be produced by Endemol Shine India for Innovative Film Academy (IFA) and will air on the Sun Network. MasterChef India Tamil, MasterChef India Telugu, MasterChef India Malayalam and MasterChef India Kannada will all launch later this year.

     

    Hugely successful actor, Vijay Sethupathi, will host the Tamil version; presenting MasterChef India Telugu will be well-known actor Tamannaah Bhatia; taking the reins for MasterChef India Malayalam will be hugely popular Prithviraj Sukumaran; and Bigg Boss host and actor Kichcha Sudeep, will front MasterChef Kannada.

    Banijay today confirms the return of global cookery hit, MasterChef, to Portugal’s RTP1 following a two-year hiatus, and the pickup of Celebrity MasterChef Australia by 10 and 10 Play On Demand after twelve years off-air.

     

    Produced by Banijay’s Shine Iberia, MasterChef Portugal has started casting for the new season (masterchefportugal.pt) which will launch on RTP1 later this year, having last aired there in 2019.     Banijay Brands today announces a range of new licensing agreements Mr BeanMasterChef and Simon’s Cat in Asia, ahead of the region’s week at Festival of Licensing.

     

    This year British comedy star Mr Bean celebrates 30 years of continual distribution and to mark the occasion, Banijay Brands has partnered with Bzmedia to open licensed bubble tea stores in China, where up 22 stores have launched across various cities and further expansion expected.  The company is joining forces with Hong Kong-based manufacturer and distributor, Toyeast, and partnering with BMW to produce a die cast model of Mr Bean’s classic Mini and plush products based on the iconic character have been renewed with Kin Hsing in Taiwan. Mr Bean is represented by four agencies, Asiana, Black White Orange, MediaLink and Empire in Asia.

     

    For global culinary hit MasterChef, a new cookware, tableware and kitchenware range will be available in Indonesia on online retail store for household products,  dusdusan.com in 2021, in a deal with Indonesian company PT Homeco. This news follows the recent launch of MasterChef handblenders in South Korea with SJ Trend.

     

    Other existing business in this key region includes continued growth for animated hit Simon’s Cat through three agencies CLICK!, Block 12 and Enpop. South Korean agency Enpop are growing awareness for the brand through a partnership with Samsung for licensed digital accessories such as wallpaper designs for Samsung handset users worldwide.

     

    This follows recent deals in South Korea including Simon’s Cat plush toys with Nooritoys and mobile phone case accessories with OGA Prince, as well as an apparel deal in China with Quanshang. The mischievious cat will feature across various locations of 9 Lives Cat Clinic in Hong Kong in a partnership across three years.

    Banijay Brands is today announcing MasterChef Green, a vegetarian cookbook consisting of 80 greener recipes, published by Bloomsbury Absolute, and authored by Adam O’Sheperd. The book will launch globally in Spring 2021.

     

    MasterChef Green will include a foreword from MasterChef creator, Franc Roddam, and offers a comprehensive selection of vegetarian recipes, including a large number which are suitable for vegans, and encourages a vegetable-led diet.

     

    In line with MasterChef’s brand values, the MasterChef Green cookbook will show the home cooks to cook more sustainably, waste less, go greener and have a lighter footprint on our environment.

    Banijay has commissioned MasterChef UK finalist, Claire Fyfe, to produce a range of products with creative and bold prints to be sold on the MasterChef store on Amazon from today.

    The ‘MasterChef by Claire Fyfe’ range is inspired by her MasterChef journey and represents her favourite ingredients during her time on the show; including rhubarb, pineapple and mackerel. Each of the creative and bold block prints have been hand crafted by Fyfe from potatoes and rhubarb stalks.

    The range includes aprons, tea towels, coasters and placemats, lunchboxes, premium water bottles, mugs and ceramic trivets.

    Claire Fyfe comments; “I’m absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with the MasterChef brand by personally creating a range of textiles and homeware products. The designs represent my most-loved ingredients from the show and evoke wonderful memories of my MasterChef journey. I’m passionate about developing fun prints for the kitchen, and that’s exactly what I wanted to showcase in these products. I hope consumers love these products just as much as I do.”

    Fyfe, who came fourth in the sixteenth series of Shine TV’s’ MasterChef on BBC One earlier this year, studied textiles at university, is an abstract artist and trained as an interior designer. MasterChef delivered a final consolidated series average of 5.06 million viewers with a market share of 21.1%. This was its best audience since 2017 (5.21m) and +14% higher than the audience for Series 15.
