    Content powerhouse Banijay, today announces its previous Head of Format Acquisitions, Carlotta Rossi Spencer, has taken up a new role as Head of Branded Content Business Development. The global-spanning, newly created role, tasks her with overseeing the delivery and fulfilment of new deals in this space, driving market penetration and revenue growth.

    Reporting to the group’s Chief Strategy Officer, Marie Schweitzer, the position will see Rossi Spencer work collaboratively with the company’s local talent to enable and support new partnerships and opportunities to drive maximum value worldwide.

    Marie Schweitzer comments: “While our labels around the world have worked in the branded content space for some time, there was a need to take a holistic view on this area of the business and explore innovative ways to drive further opportunity. Carlotta was always a determined acquirer and we’ve no doubt she’ll now be an impressive force in this field as we collectively build out our strategy.”

    Previously Rossi Spencer served as Head of Format Acquisitions for Banijay and was responsible for acquiring Unscripted formats with cross-country appeal for the group’s 120+ production entities. Leading the process from industry analysis to negotiation and completion, she established strong relationships worldwide, aiding the business in its ambitions to be a top destination and go-to for content developers, distributors and brand managers alike. As part of the role, she also assisted the in-footprint production labels with the local roll-out of all formats acquired, as well as Temptation Island.

    Outside Banijay, she has also held several roles in research and development, having begun her career in journalism and communications. The new role is effective immediately.

    Banijay today reveals Marie Schweitzer is set to continue as Chief Strategy Officer. With the business since its inception in 2008, she played a fundamental role in the recent acquisition and remains in place to oversee Strategy, Research and Communications.

     

    Appointed to her current role in September 2016, Schweitzer joined the group during its launch as co-Head of Market Research. Since then, she has held a number of positions across the business. Taking on strategy and business development more recently, she has been working with the executive team on M&A and growth opportunities, including the recent merge with Endemol Shine Group, while leading the departmental heads within her wider remit.

     

    Prior to Banijay, Schweitzer was Head of Market Research at Endemol France following several years in production.

    In the newly scaled-up group, she continues to report to CEO, Marco Bassetti, and will be responsible for supporting in setting Banijay’s overarching strategy, while continuing to identify strategic expansion opportunities. Also overseeing a number of wider departments, her direct reports include Marie-Ange Philippe, Head of Market Research; Edouard Minc, Director of Corporate Business Affairs; and Kate Humphreys, Director of Group Communications.

    Banijay today announces the appointment of Edouard Minc as Group Corporate Business Affairs & France Business Development Director. Based in Paris, the newly devised role will see him take responsibility for all corporate business affairs matters related to the Group, as well as working with Banijay France on its business development strategy and activities.

     

    Edouard Minc joins the business from Lagardère Group, where he was Director of Prospective and Investments. First joining the business back in 2001 as Senior Researcher, he went on to hold a number of roles across the business’s portfolio of publications and was most recently responsible for supporting all divisions of the Group with innovation and transformation projects.

     

    Working between Banijay Group and Banijay France, Minc will report to both EVP Strategy, Marie Schweitzer, and Banijay France CEO, François de Brugada.

     

    Marie Schweitzer comments: “Edouard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Banijay Group and we all agree he will be a fantastic addition to the team. As we continue to grow the business and evolve our strategy, there is no doubt his expertise will prove invaluable.”
