Université Côte d’Azur & Banijay Relaunch Masters with The City of Cannes & Cannes Lérins Agglomeration

12 July, 2023

Media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay, Université Côte d’Azur, The City of Cannes and Cannes Lérins Agglomeration, unite to confirm the return of their successful Masters focusing on the creation and development of TV formats. Entitled “Mastering the TV Formats of Tomorrow: Creation and Development”, the course is open to applications for a second year.

First launched in 2023 off the back of the successful “Content Creatives Incubator” course, the first cohort ofstudents attended 350 hours of classes, heard from Banijay’s extensive global professional network (UK, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Israel and Japan) and developed more than 15 original formats, which they pitched to a panel of experts. Today, 80% have either secured interviews, or a role, even before obtaining their diploma.

For 2023/2024, the Georges Méliès Campus will open applications once again, with the view to welcoming a further 15 candidates. Located in Cannes, where many flagship events are held (MIPCOM, MIPTV, Cannes Series), the unique Masters aims to train French and international students in the creation of original television formats. With talent shortages continuing to impact the content world, the responsive offering is geared towards aiding the industry at-large to plug the gaps.

This bilingual course, with an international dimension, offers academic segments (creative industries, design thinking, script writing, production etc.) taught by research professors from Université Côte d’Azur, and practical elements (knowledge of the global content and formats market, ability to respond to a creative brief, mastering the pitch, production of trailers etc.) led by Banijay’s global representatives.  Balancing masterclasses, themed workshops and immersion periods at key industry events, the Masters has been purposefully designed to develop the next generation of creative talent.

Running from October 2023 to June 2024, this hybrid, and highly professional degree, is accessible by submitting an online application on the Université Côte d’Azur website available here. Candidates will need to demonstrate their knowledge of subjects relating to creativity, project management, writing, as well as a proficiency in French and English.

This diploma reinforces Université Côte d’Azur’s offering and is part of the ambitious “Cannes On Air” programme initiated by the Cannes City Council to make the city the European capital of creative writing.
