Patrick Holland
Executive Chairman of Banijay UK
Patrick Holland is Banijay UK’s Executive Chairman overseeing the management and strategic direction of the UK group’s portfolio of over 20 scripted and unscripted production labels.
Patrick joined Banijay in May 2022 from the BBC, where he was Director, Factual, Arts & Classical Music (appointed April 2021) and prior to this Channel Controller of BBC Two (appointed March 2017).
As Channel Controller Patrick oversaw the revitalisation of BBC Two. Re-inventing history and documentary output, commissioning shows such as Once Upon a Time in Iraq, Hospital, Blair and Brown, 9/11 Inside the President’s War Room, rejuvenating scripted with standout commissions such as Motherfatherson, Then Barbara Met Alan, The Salisbury Poisonings, The Responder, Motherland, Alma’s Not Normal and The Other One, and working with commissioning teams to develop and refresh a raft of factual entertainment and entertainment successes with hits including Top Gear, Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr, Race Across the World and The Ranganation.
Under his leadership the channel built an unparalleled pipeline of series that graduated to BBC One and won channel of the year awards at both the Edinburgh TV Awards and Broadcast Awards.
Prior to joining BBC Two, Patrick was Head of Commissioning, Documentaries for the BBC and during his tenure new returning brands Ambulance, Reported Missing, The Real Marigold Hotel and Exodus were delivered or developed.
Before joining the broadcaster, Patrick was managing director of one of the UK’s biggest factual independent production companies, Boundless (part of Fremantle Media UK).
As a documentary director earlier in his career credits included The Case of Tony Martin, Looking for Dad and The Love Triangle Murder.
