Media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay, today announces Nordisk Film TV Denmark, part of Banijay Nordic, will produce Your Body Uncovered for DR. This deal marks the first international adaption for the ground-breaking format originally created by Banijay UK’s Remarkable Factual.

In the Danish version of this factual series, patients meet with well-known host, Peter Qvortrup Geisling, who previously trained as a doctor, journalist, and health correspondent for DR1, to discuss their illnesses and treatment. For many, these ongoing conditions are invisible to the naked eye but now using incredible augmented reality technology, HoloLens patients are given the opportunity for a mind-blowing medical consultation with professionals in the field. These mesmerising graphics are made by the Danish animation studio, Copenhagen-Bombay. Meanwhile, host and trained psychologist Josephine Høgh spends time with the patients’ relatives and listens to their experiences.

Ulrik Jørgensen CEO Nordisk Film TV Denmark says: “We all know how extraordinary the body is, and we were immediately gripped by the idea of being able to see exactly what is happening. We are looking forward to showcasing this cutting-edge technology and providing an incredible insight into the bodies of Danes. Peter Qvortrup Geisling and Josephine Høgh are the perfect hosts with their experience in scientific fields, presenting and most importantly, empathy.”

Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer, Operations at Banijay adds: “We are continually learning about the ways in which technology can enhance content and Your Body Uncovered is a perfect example. Remarkable Factual used AR, tapping into their experience in Your Home Made Perfect and Your Garden Made Perfect to create an innovative, engaging, interesting, and warm show. It is great to see a fresh new adaptation bringing this ground-breaking storytelling to a Danish audience.”

The company is known for shows such as All Against 1, Sold or Broken, and Soccer Missuses, live events like Together for Ukraine, as well as the current affairs shows Good Morning Denmarkand Good evening LIVE.

  2. Celebrity Island Heading to Denmark

Banijay today announces that international adventure-reality format, The Island, is getting its first Danish celebrity version for Kanal 5 and  discovery+, produced by Banijay’s Nordisk Film TV. Under the local title Øen VIP, the series is the fourth adaptation of the celebrity version worldwide and will feature eight well-known Danes as they are set ashore on a tropical desert island, where they must survive 14 days – completely on their own.

The Island is a ground-breaking format that explores whether modern men and women are tough and resourceful enough to survive on a remote uninhabited island, while stripped of all modern conveniences and the basics of their everyday life. The format also incorporates the pioneering use of embedded crew, that participate on an equal footing with the participants and must join the community in order to survive.

Øen VIP puts the celebrity Danes under pressure when they are deprived of the comforts of modern life for a fortnight and must live on an island without civilization in the Pacific Ocean. The cast includes influencer Philine Roepstorff, TV presenter Mille Gori, 33, TV doctor Charlotte Bøving, actor Sebastian Bull, model Oliver Bjerrehuus, chef Thomas Rode, professional skateboarder Rune Glifberg, and professional dancer Frederik Nonnemann.

Ulrik Jørgensen, CEO Nordisk Film TV Denmark says: “We can’t wait to bring Celebrity Island to the Danish audience and allow them to see well-known faces in a whole new light. Seeing the celebrities stripped of their modern comforts you can’t help but wonder how you would get on if you suddenly had to survive on a deserted island.”

Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations at Banijay says: Celebrity Island offers a gripping insight into the grit, capabilities, and survival skills of well-known faces, when they are stripped of their possessions and home comforts. This is a unique format without the usual trappings of big prizes, eliminations, and winners, and it’s fantastic to see it continue to travel to new markets.”

Pil Gundelach Brandstrup, Nordic programme director at Warner Bros. Discovery says: “Øen VIP is another addition to the large range of adventure programmes offered by Warner Bros Discovery. Øen VIP is without comparison among the toughest and most authentic reality programmes in the genre. We will experience the participants in some conditions that will mean that we get really close to them – for better or for worse. The programme offers hard times and humor, struggle and conflicts, development and realisations. The cast each get a perspective on their own lives, as they live in Denmark with many things that are taken for granted. And we also hope that the programme can both help to entertain the viewers, but also give food for thought in relation to our own everyday life.”

The eight-episode run will premiere on Kanal 5 and discovery+ at the beginning of 2023.

The Island was originally created by Shine TV and Bear Grylls Ventures LLP © in 2014. It has been adapted in nine territories with over 20 seasons aired, and the Danish version, produced by Nordisk Film TV (a Banijay company), will be the fourth celebrity iteration. Banijay represents the format internationally.

The Island has received an RTS award and a BAFTA Television Award for Best Reality & Constructed Factual. The UK versions were consistently the number one show for day for Channel 4. The recent version in Sweden was the most streamed local production on discovery+.

  3. Nordisk Film TV Denmark to Produce Charity Concert, Together for Ukraine

Banijay today announces Nordisk Film TV Denmark, a Banijay Nordic label, will produce Together for Ukraine to show our support and raise money for those affected. Taking place in City Hall Square in Copenhagen on Saturday 12th March at 7:30 pm, it will be broadcast live on DR1 and TV 2.

Utterly saddened by the horrendous situation in Ukraine, all over Denmark initiatives are being launched to support those affected. Nordisk Film TV together with DR and TV 2 now unite the nation for an evening of engagement, enlightenment, thoughtfulness and give audiences the opportunity to assist via various larger charities active in and around Ukraine. At the benefit concert, some of the best Danish musicians will perform and the viewers will have the chance to donate funds to the aid agencies both before, during and after the event.

The concert is open to everyone and for those who don’t live near Copenhagen it will be shown on big screens across Denmark’s major cities: Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and Esbjerg. Of course, there is always the option of watching it at home too.

Ulrik Jørgensen, CEO of Nordisk Film TV Denmark comments: “There are no winners in a situation like this. We must do everything in our power to support the people of Ukraine and show that we are there for them. I am very proud that Nordisk Film TV, in collaboration with Denmark’s two largest broadcasters, DR1 and TV 2, will produce this important event live from Copenhagen. I view it as one of the most important productions we have ever undertaken.”

Charlotte Slente, Secretary-General of Danish Refugee Council, and representing all organisations involved, says: “The humanitarian need of Ukraine and neighbouring countries has increased massively in the last week. At the forefront is providing basic emergency aid and making sure people have a roof over their heads. It’s amazing to see the Danes determination to help. Now, through words and music, and by raising money for the organisations working around the clock, we can show our support and solidarity.”

Nikolaj Vitting Hermann, Head of Cross-Platform Content of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation adds: “The Ukrainians are in a horrific situation, and they need immediate aid. Here in Denmark, many are deeply affected by what is happening, and we see how Danes all over the country are launching initiatives to help. In collaboration with TV 2, the aid agencies, and the Danes, I am pleased that we can now contribute to making a difference for those in need.”

Dorthe Thirstrup, Head of TV 2 says: “In severe situations like this, it is crucial to stand together for freedom and solidarity. Together with DR, we’d like to offer the Danes the opportunity to make a difference; by uniting for peace, or by financially supporting the aid agencies’ urgent work.”

The concert will be the climax of a week of radio and TV programmes focusing on supporting those affected.
