Peter Lubbers, CEO Banijay Benelux says: “We reach millions of people every day with the content we produce within Banijay Benelux labels. We know better than anyone what impact the stories we tell make on individuals, on groups, on an entire society. The situation that is deeply affecting and upsetting the whole world is an unimaginable reality for 44 million Ukrainians. As an organisation, we see it as a duty to take action.”

Kees Zevenbergen, action chairman of Giro555 comments: “As aid organisations we are deeply moved by the enormous support expressed here in the Netherlands. A great signal of solidarity for the people of Ukraine and the many hundreds of thousands of refugees. They desperately need our support.”

This production is part of a larger contribution from Banijay Benelux. From Monday 7th March all employees will be offered the opportunity to donate to the people of Ukraine. From that day onwards, the office in Amsterdam will have a special stand where you will receive a symbolic Ukrainian flag with each donation made to Giro555. The company has committed to doubling the total amount of donations raised from the employees. In addition, Banijay Benelux’s foundation, Banijay Benelux For Kids will also make a donation of 5,000 euros.

Banijay today announces Nordisk Film TV Denmark, a Banijay Nordic label, will produce Together for Ukraine to show our support and raise money for those affected. Taking place in City Hall Square in Copenhagen on Saturday 12th March at 7:30 pm, it will be broadcast live on DR1 and TV 2.

Utterly saddened by the horrendous situation in Ukraine, all over Denmark initiatives are being launched to support those affected. Nordisk Film TV together with DR and TV 2 now unite the nation for an evening of engagement, enlightenment, thoughtfulness and give audiences the opportunity to assist via various larger charities active in and around Ukraine. At the benefit concert, some of the best Danish musicians will perform and the viewers will have the chance to donate funds to the aid agencies both before, during and after the event.

The concert is open to everyone and for those who don’t live near Copenhagen it will be shown on big screens across Denmark’s major cities: Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and Esbjerg. Of course, there is always the option of watching it at home too.

Ulrik Jørgensen, CEO of Nordisk Film TV Denmark comments: “There are no winners in a situation like this. We must do everything in our power to support the people of Ukraine and show that we are there for them. I am very proud that Nordisk Film TV, in collaboration with Denmark’s two largest broadcasters, DR1 and TV 2, will produce this important event live from Copenhagen. I view it as one of the most important productions we have ever undertaken.”

Charlotte Slente, Secretary-General of Danish Refugee Council, and representing all organisations involved, says: “The humanitarian need of Ukraine and neighbouring countries has increased massively in the last week. At the forefront is providing basic emergency aid and making sure people have a roof over their heads. It’s amazing to see the Danes determination to help. Now, through words and music, and by raising money for the organisations working around the clock, we can show our support and solidarity.”

Nikolaj Vitting Hermann, Head of Cross-Platform Content of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation adds: “The Ukrainians are in a horrific situation, and they need immediate aid. Here in Denmark, many are deeply affected by what is happening, and we see how Danes all over the country are launching initiatives to help. In collaboration with TV 2, the aid agencies, and the Danes, I am pleased that we can now contribute to making a difference for those in need.”

Dorthe Thirstrup, Head of TV 2 says: “In severe situations like this, it is crucial to stand together for freedom and solidarity. Together with DR, we’d like to offer the Danes the opportunity to make a difference; by uniting for peace, or by financially supporting the aid agencies’ urgent work.”

The concert will be the climax of a week of radio and TV programmes focusing on supporting those affected.

  3. We Stand With Ukraine

We are utterly saddened by the horrendous situation in Ukraine and our thoughts go to all those affected. As a vast global content production and distribution business, we, like most of the industry, have long historically had deals in-place across Russia. However, in light of recent events, we have taken the decision not to activate any new agreements in the region relating to production, distribution (sales and licensing) and general commercial matters, thereby freezing our activity there until further notice.
