Metronome Delivers Danish Fear Factor Comeback After Two Decades
Comments Off on Metronome Delivers Danish Fear Factor Comeback After Two DecadesContent powerhouse, Banijay Entertainment, today announces the landmark return of Fear Factor to Danish television. Metronome, part of Banijay Nordic, leads the comeback, producing for TV 2 and TV 2 Echo, marking a significant revival for the franchise.
The first Danish edition since 2002, hosted by comedian Ruben Søltoft, adds a fresh comedic twist, with Søltoft hilariously afraid of absolutely everything. The games remain true to the Fear Factor legacy with extreme heights and stomach-turning stunts. Filmed in an abandoned slaughterhouse, contestants are pushed to confront their phobias, while unexpected tasks and ironic setups bring laughter into the mix.
The comeback coincides with a bold reimagining from the US, where EndemolShine North America will launch Fear Factor: House of Fear on FOX. With Johnny Knoxville at the helm, contestants face jaw-dropping stunts and a harrowing game of social strategy, where trust is fleeting and fear itself becomes a weapon. Fear Factor: House of Fear will also broadcast on CTV in Canada in a deal agreed by Banijay Rights, while a new adaptation in Quebec – Fear Factor Célébrités – launches on Crave TV in French-Canada next spring.
Tina Christensen, Managing Director, Metronome says: “Bringing Fear Factor back after 23 years is a huge milestone for Metronome and is testament to our thriving creative team. Reimagined for a new generation of viewers, packed with shareable moments, stunning visuals and unique comedic elements, this comeback blends the adrenaline of the classic challenges with a distinctly Danish sense of humour. It’s a landmark moment that underscores Metronome’s ambition to deliver premium entertainment content.”
Lucas Green, Chief Creative Officer, Operations, Banijay Entertainment says: “Fear Factor is one of Banijay Entertainment’s lasting formats, and its comeback demonstrates the continued appetite for action-packed entertainment. With Denmark reigniting the format after more than two decades, and the US launching a daring new series, we’re expecting further momentum internationally. Both versions prove an excellent talent vehicle, with Johnny Knoxville and Ruben Søltoft bringing their unique blend of humour and personality to engage audiences.”
Metronome is one of Denmark’s most well-known production companies, delivering successful content across all platforms and genres. Its slate includes International Emmy-winning Shaolin Heroes, now spanning six markets, alongside other locally created titles Roast in the Coast, Stripped and Alone Together. Metronome’s portfolio also includes Danish versions of blockbusters Last One Laughing, The Block, Taskmaster, and Ex on the Beach.
