Shine Iberia, a Banijay company confirms it is bringing Não te Esqueças da Letra (Don’t Forget the Lyrics) to Portugal in a first series deal with RTP1.

Presented by João Paulo Rodrigues, the musical game show will air in Portugal on Saturday evenings from this spring. Singing ability plays no part in this entertainment series, instead it is all about correctly remembering the words to hit songs to win a life-changing cash prize.  Contestants choose from different genres and decades, and take to the stage and sing-along with the studio band as the lyrics are displayed. But will they have what it takes when the music stops? Or will they forget the lyrics?

Originally created in the US, Banijay format Don’t Forget the Lyrics first aired in 2007 and has been adapted in over 25 countries. The format is a long-running hit in France, produced by Air Productions and celebrating 5000 episodes on France 2 this spring.

Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations, Creative Networks at Banijay says: “Don’t Forget the Lyrics is the epitome of feel good-entertainment which is incredibly popular right now. As we celebrate 5000 episodes in France, it is great to be bringing the show to new markets and we firmly believe other broadcasters will be interested in the mixture of game and music the format offers.”

Macarena Rey, CEO Shine Iberia comments: “We are excited to create a local version of this uplifting format which the whole family can enjoy together. The home of Fado, Portugal has always enjoyed a booming music scene and Don’t Forget the Lyrics promises to create the fun, party atmosphere many viewers are craving.”

Shine Iberia, a Banijay company, is behind numerous non-scripted hits airing across Spain and Portugal. Currently on-air in Portugal is the country’s first local version of All Together Now, along with entertainment hit such as Hell’s Kitchen and The Voice Kids.

Multi award-winning formats from Shine Iberia include MasterChef, MasterChef Junior and MasterChef Celebrity, alongside Sewing Bee, The Island, Anything Goes, Hunted, MasterChef Portugal, D’Improviso, The Voice Portugal, The Voice Kids, Kitchen Nightmares and I Love Portugal.

Banijay today announces a first series deal for entertainment hit, All Together Now, in Portugal.

Shine Iberia Portugal, Banijay Iberia company, has been commissioned by TVI to produce a local version of the popular singing format. Presented by Cristina Ferreira, the prime-time series is currently in production under Covid-19 guidelines and is scheduled to debut early 2021.

Including Portugal, All Together Now has now sold to 15 markets, with eight productions broadcasting this year. The format is currently airing a third run in Italy and is also on in Finland, where the debut series launched last month with a 24.3% market share.

The news comes as Endemol Shine Brasil prepares for tonight’s International Emmy Awards where its local version of the format, titled Canta Comigo has been nominated in the Non-Scripted Entertainment category.

Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations, Creative Networks at Banijay says; “This format delivers unforgettable performances, emotional reactions and loads of humour to bring the entire family together. The fun party atmosphere is just what viewers need right now and we are proud to produce the show using our tried and tested Coved- 19 protocols.”

All Together Now sees a range of talented vocalists (solos and groups) perform in front of The 100, an audience of great singers with big voices and even bigger opinions.

If any of The 100 like what they hear, they can stand up, join in and sing along. The greater the number that join in, the higher the act’s score. At the end of the series, one act will walk away with a major cash prize. The question is, who can get The 100 on their feet and singing along?
