    Media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay, today announces Shine Portugal, part of Banijay Iberia, will produce ten episodes of Starstruck for public broadcaster RTP.  

    The commission marks the sixth adaptation of the show, which was originally created by Banijay UK label, Remarkable Entertainment. Launching first in the UK, Starstruck aired for two seasons on ITV and ITVX, and has also been adapted in Chile, Bulgaria, Belgium and Denmark, where it repeatedly won its slot across all demographics.

As well as the tension of the competition, the Portuguese version will have the added excitement of live performances from the exceptional talent of the contestants, which will make for captivating, emotive and all-round spectacular TV.”

    In Starstruck, a trio of ordinary people, with extraordinary talent, take to the stage as they team up and transform into some of the world’s biggest music icons, singing live to battle it out against rival groups. With only one spot up for grabs in the grand finale, the winning trio must compete against each other for a shot at securing the life-changing cash prize.

    Banijay Iberia, part of media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay, today announces a senior promotion at Shine Iberia in Portugal, with Helder Marques promoted to take up a new role of  Managing Director.

     In this all-new position, Marques will oversee all of Shine Iberia Portugal’s output, which on average sees ten formats produced each year. He will report to Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia, Spain and Portugal, and Endemol Portugal.

     Marques has played a key role in the success of Shine Iberia in Portugal, having served as an Executive Producer with credits including MasterChef Portugal, The Voice Portugal, Hell’s Kitchen and Missao:100% Português. He first joined the company in 2012 as a Production Manager, having previously worked at Endemol producing Big Brother and Fear Factor, among others. Prior to Endemol, he was part of the founding team at CBV Produções Televisivas, where he led shows like Quem Quer Ser Milionário – Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Top Chef and A Voz de Portugal – The Voice for RTP, as well as Atreve-te a Cantar and À Procurando Sonho for SIC.

    Banijay today announces Shine Iberia, a Banijay Iberia company, will produce Vidas de Cine (Open Air Cinema)in collaboration with Telemadrid.

     

    A homage to the inhabitants of Madrid, Vidas de Cine will capture testimonies and stories from every district. The beloved actor and presenter, Florentino Fernández, will travel around Madrid speaking to communities and discovering anonymous stories which capture the essence of those living in the Spanish capital. The city is then invited to an outdoor screening to watch the compilation. From anecdotes of resilience to recognising a key individual, the audience will get an authentic insight into the lives of their relatives, friends, and neighbours.

    Banijay Rights holds distribution rights for Vidas de Cine which will broadcast on Telemadrid later this year.

    Banijay today announces LEGO Masters has been picked up in two new European markets, with the format now to sold to 13 broadcasters and counting.

     

    Spanish broadcaster Atresmedia has ordered a first series run from Banijay Iberia’s Shine Iberia, whilst TV 2 has commissioned the debut Norwegian adaptation from Mastiff Norway.

     

    Shine Iberia has launched its casting call for the hit entertainment format which sees pairs compete against each other to create the most awe-inspiring designs, brick models and wow the judges.  Production is also underway in Norway for TV 2, where its first-ever winner will be crowned by presenter and the 2010 Eurovision final host, Erik Solbakken, who will host the local production.

     

    LEGO Masters is a firm hit globally, with these commissions following a popular first primetime season in Germany which achieved an average 14.2% market share compared to the channel’s average of 10.6%. The show also launched in the home of LEGO, Denmark, where the first five episodes of season one achieved a 40.2% share.

     

    LEGO Masters was originally created by Tuesday’s Child Television and The LEGO Group, with Banijay serving as the exclusive format and finished tape distributor globally.

    Shine Iberia, a Banijay company confirms it is bringing Não te Esqueças da Letra (Don’t Forget the Lyrics) to Portugal in a first series deal with RTP1.

     

    Presented by João Paulo Rodrigues, the musical game show will air in Portugal on Saturday evenings from this spring. Singing ability plays no part in this entertainment series, instead it is all about correctly remembering the words to hit songs to win a life-changing cash prize.  Contestants choose from different genres and decades, and take to the stage and sing-along with the studio band as the lyrics are displayed. But will they have what it takes when the music stops? Or will they forget the lyrics?

    Originally created in the US, Banijay format Don’t Forget the Lyrics first aired in 2007 and has been adapted in over 25 countries. The format is a long-running hit in France, produced by Air Productions and celebrating 5000 episodes on France 2 this spring.
