Banijay today announces Endemol Shine Poland, a Banijay company, will produce hit format Don’t Forget the Lyrics for TVP2. Previously produced by Mastiff Poland, Endemol Shine Poland will bring the format back after a ten-year hiatus.

Don’t Forget the Lyrics is a music extravaganza show that challenges contestants to try to fill in missing song lyrics for the chance to win a cash prize. From Aretha Franklin to Harry Styles, the contestants take to the stage and, accompanied by a live band, belt out the tunes. However, can they keep singing when the lyrics stop? The revived Polish version will be hosted by celebrity couple Sławomir and Kajra.

Ryszard Sibiliski, Managing Director at Endemol Shine Poland says:Don’t Forget the Lyrics is a high-stakes game show that delivers big, bold entertainment and escapism for a wide audience. We’re delighted to have Sławomir and Kajra on board, as they bring such a great energy to the project that audiences will love.”

Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations at Banijay adds:Don’t Forget The Lyrics is the ultimate singing gameshow – with a feelgood atmosphere, a live band and upbeat music, it is primetime entertainment for all ages. With continued success around the globe and strong returns to key markets including the U.S. and Italy, we’re delighted the format has returned to Poland.”

Originally created by FOX, Don’t Forget the Lyrics has been adapted in over 30 territories. The recently launched reboot in the U.S. was hosted by Emmy nominee, Niecy Nash, and produced by Banijay’s Bunim Murray Productions and Apploff Entertainment. Italy too brought the series back earlier this year with strong ratings. In France, the show has aired continuously since 2007, hitting the milestone of 5000 episodes in 2021.

Endemol Shine Poland has been producing high-quality multi-genre programming for over 20 years. This includes adapting international brands such as Big Brother, LEGO® Masters, Fort Boyard and The Million Pound Drop for the Polish audience. Its slate also includes premium scripted such as Our Century, The Crack and Netflix’s Squared Love.

  2. Banijay Tunes in to Family Entertainment

Comments Off on Banijay Tunes in to Family Entertainment

Banijay today announces the addition of Name That Tune to its burgeoning 100,000-hour catalogue, having secured the format’s global distribution rights. Given the title’s previous commissions, the deal excludes the USA, Canada, Australia, Russia and Poland.

Born in the 1950s, this long-running, family-friendly show is still an audience favourite, combining music and competition. Battling it out over an assortment of games, two contestants try to prove they possess more musical knowledge than the other. A key element of this format is the band. They perform live resulting in an electric atmosphere within the studio. In truth, the questions will span any decade and any genre, so the contestants must be able to tell their Elvis from their Kanye. However, defeating their opponent is not the sole goal. To be in with a chance of taking home the top cash prize, the victorious contestant has to get to the final round and correctly identify seven songs within 30 seconds.

To date, Name That Tune has been adapted in twenty-six markets including the UK, Australia and Brazil. In line with the format take-up, Banijay Italia has confirmed it will bring the highly-anticipated second series to TV8 this spring. This follows the format’s successful return to Fox in the USA on the 6th January 2021, where it exceeded expectations among 18 – 49-year olds.

Carlotta Rossi Spencer, Head of Format Acquisitions comments: Name That Tune has already proven popular with an international audience and we have no doubt we can extend its reach into new territories given its notoriety in the market as a highly entertaining, relevant, family show. A testament to the power of music and our love of gameshows, this format is perfect especially at a time when we are all after some light-hearted, comforting fun!”

Banijay Rights will handle distribution for those territories outside the existing Banijay footprint.

From screen to plate, the menu is expected to feature signature dishes and recipes that have been prepared on the show. Diners will have the opportunity to experience first-hand what it’s like to be in the famous MASTERCHEF kitchen by participating in familiar show challenges, such as ordering the ‘Mystery Box’ and selecting surprise ingredients for the chef to prepare. Past contestants and winners will have the opportunity to showcase their talents and favorite dishes to guests through exclusive tasting menus, residencies and hosted events.

“After seeing the success of the MASTERCHEF restaurant in Dubai, I knew this was the perfect concept for diners here in the U.S.,” says Antonio Primo, Managing Partner, VC Capital Holdings.  “With a menu curated from the hit show’s Champion and Finalist recipes, MASTERCHEF is about the passion for cooking and the emotional connection we have with food.  From the famous Clock to the ‘Mystery Box’ to finalist and Champion residencies and masterclasses, the experience is extraordinary.  Particularly in the current environment, this type of vibe dining, where people can stay for an evening and safely socialize, is reshaping the hospitality market.  Our investment community has energized around the launch and we’re looking forward to opening the first of several locations in 2021.”

The award-winning restaurant ‘MasterChef, the TV Experience’ in Dubai features an interior design inspired by the famous MASTERCHEF kitchen and a menu that spotlights former contestants and winners from various international seasons of the hit global series. Location and opening details to be announced at a later date.
