Banijay, the world’s leading producer and distributor of international content, is set to open the largest independent production studio facility in Latin America, Banijay Studios Brasil, in 2023, it was announced today by Ben Samek, President and Chief Operating Officer, Banijay Americas.

Based in São Paulo, Banijay Studios Brasil is nearly 250,000 square feet (more than 70,000 m2) and will welcome third-party TV and film clients alike. The studio deal was led by Samek, Endemol Shine Latino President Laurens Drillich and Endemol Shine Brasil CEO Nani Freitas.

The studio will be managed by the team at Endemol Shine Brasil, the leading independent studio in Brasil, behind many of the nation’s top-rated unscripted series.

The studio will offer a variety of options for productions of all sizes, with indoor and outdoor facilities, world-class technology, scenography sheds and modern office space for producers and talent. The new facility is being built in Guarulhos, located just miles from São Paulo’s international airport and is expected to open its doors next spring.

“We are always looking for new opportunities to grow our business and strengthen our local production companies and at the same time, enhance the quality of our shows,” says Drillich. “So, when the team at Endemol Shine Brasil came to us with a plan to build a studio complex in São Paulo, we were immediately interested. There is currently a huge demand for studio space in Brasil, a very important market for us, with one of the most engaged audiences in the world and endless possibilities. Our parent company at Banijay recognized this made a lot of sense and quickly made the necessary investments to make Banijay Studios Brasil a reality.”

So, we chose to build this new world-class facility, where we can both produce our own original content and also offer third-party clients the opportunity to produce their series in this beautiful, massive new space, as well.”

HBO Max announces the beginning of filming for the Brazilian version of the survival reality show The Bridge Brazil, a Max Originals production that will bring together a group of 14 famous people from the worlds of arts, sports, and social networks to compete for the grand prize of R$500,000.

Presented by Murilo Rosa, the program’s cast will include singer Pepita, actress Danielle Winitis, singer Badauí, actor Fábio Beltrão, model Suyane Moreira, businesswoman Paola Santerini, cultural entrepreneur Boaventura Carneiro, civil policeman Diego Del Rio, model Priscila Sena, actress and singer Polly Marinho, architect Jordana Louise, businessman and shaper Henrique Fares, among other participants.

Isolated in nature, they have a common goal: to build a 300-meter bridge to an island, where they will find their prize. To do this, they have only 20 days, and can only use what is around them as building materials. While they build the bridge, they must make alliances among themselves, because when they reach the island, a vote will be held to decide who gets the prize. The chosen participant decides whether to share it with their allies or not.

“HBO Max is bringing an unprecedented reality to Brazil, unlike anything ever seen before. We know how passionate Brazilians are about this type of program and how much they vibrate and follow each moment,” says Tomás Yankelevich, director of general entertainment content at WarnerMedia Latin America. “THE BRIDGE BRASIL has all the ingredients to win over the audience: a diverse cast, with names already known by the audience, challenges of coexistence, survival in the wilderness and much more,” he adds.

The Bridge Brasil is a Max Originals production, produced by WarnerMedia Latin America in partnership with Endemol Shine Brasil. Development is by Sergio Nakasone and executive production by Paula Kirchner and Anouk Aaron, from WarnerMedia Latin America, and general production by Nani Freitas and Eduardo Gaspar, from Endemol Shine Brasil. With general direction by Rodrigo Giannetto and direction by Bruno Guerra, the program will be released exclusively on HBO Max.

Banijay today announces that hit-reality series, Survivor, will return to Brazil after a 12-year break, co-produced by Globo and Endemol Shine Brasil.

The reality show known locally as No Limite, will be hosted by André Marques and in a unique twist, will feature a cast of previous Big Brother Brasil contestants. In addition to the 11-episode run, Globo has commissioned a spin-off for its entertainment channel, Multishow, which will also host re-runs. Globo’s entertainment portal, Gshow, and its VOD service, Globoplay, will host exclusive content and highlights.

Produced in more than 40 territories since its launch in 2000, Survivor is a global hit and superbrand, standing as one of the most watched formats worldwide. More than 10 million viewers tuned in to the 40th season last year on CBS in the U.S., the latest Australian adaptation was seen by nearly 40% of the population, and the most recent French version, Koh Lanta, ended as number one in its slot.

Laurens Drillich, President of Endemol Shine Latino says: “This is such great news. Currently we have Big Brother Brasil on Globo and the fact that Survivor – another all-time classic reality series – will debut soon on the channel, is the biggest compliment we as a company could get. With Boninho and his team at Globo, and our colleagues at Endemol Shine Brasil working together on this show, I am sure this will be another huge success and serve a new generation of fans for Survivor in Brazil.”

Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations at Banijay added: Survivor is one of the most iconic formats in the Banijay portfolio and bringing the show back to a major market such as Brazil is an important moment in the next phase of its growth. We’re seeing great momentum with beach reality formats, filming safely in different locations around the globe, and this deal is set to build the genre even further.”

Survivor tests the spirit of a group of ordinary, and yet extraordinary, people who are marooned, with little more than the clothes on their backs and their own animal cunning. As they catch their own food, build their own shelter and order their own society, castaways must compete in increasingly difficult tests of strategy and guile.

The latest commission of No Limite builds on Endemol Shine Brasil’s successful partnership with Globo, which also includes the network’s biggest show, Big Brother Brasil, which was recently awarded a Guinness World Record after topping 1.5 billion votes last year.

If any of The 100 like what they hear, they can stand up, join in and sing along. The greater the number that join in, the higher the act’s score. At the end of the series, one act will walk away with a major cash prize. The question is, who can get The 100 on their feet and singing along?
