  1. Banijay’s Pineapple Takes Celebrities to the Grand Canyon

    Pineapple Entertainment, part of Banijay Nordic, today announces a new premium reality series for Warner Bros. Discovery, set in one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, the Grand Canyon. The series will air soon in Denmark on Kanal 5 and discovery+.

     

    In Grand Canyon – The Greatest Adventure, a group of celebrities spend 16 days on the adventure of a lifetime, rafting 360 kilometres on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. This spectacular river is not only pristinely beautiful but also one of the most challenging rafting locations in the world. 

     

    Helped by adventurer Thor F. Jensen, the Danish A-list cast includes actors Andreas Jessen and Lise Baastrup, high-profile athlete Anne-Marie Rindom and handball champion Jesper Nøddesbo, musician Mohamed “Skinz” Ahmed and TV personality, host, model, actress Ibi Støving. The group must co-operate as they move through an ever-changing environment, learning about the cultural history of the landscape, and working together to establish a daily camp. To succeed, this adventure demands co-operation, inclusiveness, and community.

  2. Banijay’s MasterChef Cooks Up Brand-New Iteration MasterChef: Young Talent

    Banijay today announces that Viaplay Group has ordered first seasons of MasterChef: Young Talent in Denmark (MasterChef, De Unge Talenter) and Norway (MasterChef, Unge Talenter), produced by Banijay companies Metronome (Denmark) and Nordisk Banijay (Norway).

    The new iteration of the hit culinary format showcases promising chefs aged 13 – 18, who will have their culinary skills honed throughout the competition in a celebration of talent and regional gastronomic excellence. Each week under the eye of expert judges, the contestants will be faced with several tasks, and must produce exceptional food. The series culminates in one chef being crowned the MasterChef: Young Talent winner.

    This follows the news that Viaplay are bringing Celebrity MasterChef to the Netherlands for the first time this autumn, produced by SimpelZodiak, a Banijay Benelux company.

    MasterChef: Young Talent is the latest spin-off from the world’s most successful cookery television format which also includes Celebrity MasterChef, MasterChef: The Professionals, Junior MasterChef, MasterChef All Stars, MasterChef Senior and the recently announced Young MasterChef (w/t) with BBC Three in the UK, which will be dedicated to up-and-coming young food talent between the ages of 18 and 25. Created by Franc Roddam, the show is produced in over 60 territories and celebrated its 500th series globally in 2021, with 49 productions airing in 33 territories last year. An international ratings hit, the current season of MasterChef in Denmark has seen strong ratings, with its debut exceeding the slot average by 110%+. Elsewhere, the recent finale of Argentina’s first ever Celebrity MasterChef peaked at an incredible 82.3% audience share.

    Nordisk Banijay, led by Erlend Hernø Røeggen, is well-known for producing top entertainment shows in the market. MasterChef: Young Talent will sit alongside 71 Degrees North, All Against 1 and Strictly Come Dancingin its slate.

  3. Banijay’s Pineapple Entertainment Gets Ready to Spend One Night In…

    Pineapple Entertainment, part of Banijay Nordic, today announces it will produce the first international version of One Night In… for TV 2 Zulu.

     

    Created by Banijay UK label Zeppotron, One Night In… sees comedians given the opportunity to run wild for one night in an iconic location, with no other visitors around. Completely unsupervised, the talent can roam free in some of the country’s best-known department stores and theme parks.

     

    There won’t be security guards or grown-ups to reign in the fun. And there’s only a few rules: no sleeping and if they must leave the location the same as how they found it, whilst completing a few challenges along the way.  The talent can do anything they like, just as long as they’re out of the location before the cleaners arrive and the shutters go up the next morning.

  4. Danish Celebrities to Become Shaolin Heroes in Epic New Adventure Reality Series

    Shaolin Heroes will test celebrities like never before as they embark on a life-changing journey to master the ancient martial art of the Shaolin Warrior Monks in China. At a much-revered temple, the famous faces will receive the toughest, and most elite training possible. The challenge is not only physical, the celebrities will have to learn the Shaolin philosophy confront their deepest fears, and develop as a person to manifest a happier life.  Who will have the willpower and heart to become a true Shaolin Hero?

    Banijay confirms The Write Offs has landed its first international deals, having been picked up for Australian and Danish audiences.

     

    Metronome Productions will produce the local Danish version for DR1, while SBS has also ordered its own version of The Write Offs which will be called Lost for Words from Endemol Shine Australia. Originally created by Shine TV for Channel 4, The Write Offs gives a group of adults the amazing opportunity to change their own lives.

     

    Around the world ordinary people struggle with the basic skills necessary for everyday situations, whether it be reading a signpost, writing a shopping list or sending a text message to a loved one. Like the UK version, the Australian and Danish productions offer a group of adults the chance to change their lives forever. New doors are opened as they receive one-to-one tuition and face entertaining tasks to take them out of their comfort zones to improve their reading and writing.     Banijay today announces two new adaptations for hit travelling format LEGO Masters, with Denmark and Finland the latest countries onboard.

     

    Danish production company Metronome, a Banijay company, has been commissioned to produce the show for TV2, and Endemol Shine Finland will be bringing the competition reality format to MTV3 audiences.

     

    LEGO Masters has now been produced in eleven markets, with local versions in US, UK, Australia, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland and France. 2020 was the best year yet for the format with seven productions airing across eight markets.

     

    In the US, FOX has confirmed a second series, once again hosted by Will Arnett. First series of LEGO Masters recently wrapped successfully in Poland and Sweden, whilst in France the debut in December ranked as the best launch for a new series on M6.

     

    In addition, Banijay Rights has landed numerous finished tape deals for the show.  In Italy, A+E Networks has acquired LEGO Masters Australia seasons 1- 3, LEGO Masters UK seasons 1 -2, and first seasons from the US, Sweden, and Netherlands for their channel BLAZE, meanwhile, WarnerMedia has also picked up LEGO Masters Australia season 1 for its free to air channel BOING.

     

    DPG Media in Belgium has picked up LEGO Masters Australia, USA and UK and Sony has licensed LEGO Masters USA Series 1 for Russia, CIS and Baltics.

     

    In the Nordics, TV4 Sweden and TV2 Denmark, and SVOD platform Cmore, have acquired the finished tape series of LEGO Masters Australia Season 1 & 2, UK Season 1 & 2, and USA Season 1.

     

    The format was originally created by Tuesday’s Child Television and The LEGO Group, and Banijay is the exclusive format and finished tape distributor of LEGO Masters globally.

    TV 2 announces the commission of Denmark Stands Together, a special entertainment show from Nordisk Film TV, a Banijay Group company. Set to air on Saturday 28 March at 7.55pm, the broadcast is all about moral support and unity in this exceptional worldwide crisis.

     

    Covid-19 has forced many of us to stay home – individually. Yet, Denmark stands together. Around the country, the Danes have found new ways to help each other through the crisis, and this weekend Denmark Stands Together will help strengthen the unity in the nation via an extraordinary programme in an extraordinary situation.

     

    The episode will see hosts Natasja Crone, Puk Elgård and Anders Breinholt broadcast live from two makeshift studios, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen being the main location. Out in the open and with six feet between them all, they will talk to well-known and unknown Danes who are doing something special in these unprecedented times. Sharing stories from all over the country, there will also be the opportunity to say “thank you” to the many who are making a difference in the country right now.

     

    “In recent weeks, TV 2’s focus and public service efforts have naturally been about delivering the Danes news and information about the guidelines we must follow. Now it must also be about saying thank you for being there when it really counts – and for keeping your head up and standing together in these difficult times,” says TV 2’s program director, Lotte Lindegaard, in a public statement, and continues: “Although we cannot physically gather, we need something to bring us together. At TV 2, we will – in our own way – open the closed doors. It is important that we forge a bond between ourselves at home and the many who deserve great thanks for their efforts when they care for the sick and the old, when they help the vulnerable in everyday life, or when they pick up our trash, complete store jobs, and generally make society work.”

     

    With music, greetings and thanks, the show will bring live “at-home” Danish performances from major Danish artists, to highlight that Denmark Stands Together. Greetings also come from a number of well-known personalities, while Danes at home can join the conversation via Skype.

     

    The show will be produced by Nordisk Film TV, makers of TV 2’s daily current affairs show, Good Morning Denmark, and supported by other producers from TV 2 ECHO, as well as TV 2’s Sports Editorial Team.

  9. Impressive Wins for Denmark and Finland

    Congratulations to our Nordic companies who have been recognised for nine awards across Denmark and Finland at this year’s prestigious TV Prisen Awards and Kultainen Venla Awards.

     

    Pineapple Entertainment picked up four awards including Best Character Driven Series, which went to Diamond Family; Zulu Awards 2019 won Best Event; Factual Creation went to Tinder Grannies, and Martin Brygmann won Entertainment Host of the Year!

     

    The TV Prisen Awards also recognised Mastiff Denmark which took home Best Lifestyle Programme for Portrait Artist of The Year, Best Singer won Best Entertainment and Best Factual Entertainment went to Different Like Me.
