jonnydepony Brings a Slice of BOHO to Streamz
Comments Off on jonnydepony Brings a Slice of BOHO to StreamzFrom Cannes Series, Banijay Entertainment today announces a new addition to its scripted slate, with BOHO,a six-part Flemish dramady from Banijay Benelux label, jonnydepony, commissioned by Streamz.
Created by Abbie Boutkabout, BOHO is a comedy-drama following three thirty-something friends, Kima, her sister Nawal, and their close pal Alex, as they navigate life in the urban landscape of Borgerhout, one of Antwerp’s most eclectic and culturally-rich neighbourhoods. Played by Ikram Aoulad (Arcadia), Serine Ayari(Exen) and hip-hop artist Miss Angel (Dancing with the Stars), the trio grapple with the everyday pressures of life and modern adulthood. From cultural expectations around careers, marriage and families, to the often-conflicting pursuit of their own dreams and happiness, each week they gather for ‘Fuzzy Fridays’, a chaotic but comforting ritual of sharing over ‘nightshop’ wine, and bad weed. It’s their space to be themselves, vent, laugh and inform the musical Kima is determined to create about their lives. BOHO is written by Boutkabout alongside Philippe De Schepper and Zita Theunynck, and blends raw honesty with humour, music and emotion.
Helen Perquy, CEO jonnydepony says: “While BOHO is a distinctly Flemish story, capturing the warmth and urban vibe of Borgerhout, the themes and characters are universally relatable – this could be in any European city. Abbie Boutkabout has created a bond between the three characters that is raw, funny and authentic. With dance and music woven into the narrative structure, the series not only offers drama, but an atmospheric mood throughout.”
