Nigel Owens to transform lives through the farm on S4C
September 24, 2026
Former international rugby referee Nigel Owens will present a new series on S4C which will offer individuals the opportunity to transform their lives.
Second Chance Farm (provisional title) will welcome a group of young people who will overcome challenges by helping out on the farm, all under the watchful eye of Nigel’s kite.
Since retiring as an international referee in 2020, presenter Jonathan has been busy on his farm, working the land and looking after the animals.
The series, a production of Tŷ’r Ddraig (part of Banijay UK’s Workerbee group) and Captain Jac for S4C, is currently casting and young people aged between 18 and 25 are being encouraged to apply.
More specifically, the producers of Second Chance Farm are keen to hear from young people who are looking for new beginnings and the opportunity to discover who they can be, or those who feel directionless and yearn for a new challenge.
They will have the opportunity to learn new skills, including working as part of a team, whilst living and working in a rural setting.
On hand to assist Nigel will be Rhys Colnet, a farmer from Pembrokeshire who is known to S4C Hansh followers for his regular appearances on the platform.
Looking forward to the series, Nigel Owens said: “I’m excited to roll up my sleeves on this new series, which will give a bunch of young people the chance to get a fresh start. From the rugby pitch to the farm pitches, I’ve dealt with a number of challenging situations over the years, and this series will show how anything is possible with a bit of determination and perseverance.”
Llinos Wynne, S4C’s Head of Specialist Documentary and Factual Specialist, said: “Nigel is a loyal friend of ours at S4C and one of my most familiar faces. This series will share Nigel’s passion for agriculture as he supports people from diverse backgrounds to develop resilience in the face of life’s challenges. If you want to get involved, don’t be lazy, join Nigel in the yard.”

Fferm Ail Gyfle will broadcast on S4C, S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer in 2027.
