Temptation Island Lures Denmark
June 4, 2026
Media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay Entertainment, today announces its hit international reality format, Temptation Island, is getting a Danish version, produced by Mastiff Denmark (part of Banijay Nordic) for Viaplay. This marks the 28th adaptation of the superbrand, which first launched in the US in 2001, and was acquired in 2012.
Temptation Island sees couples embark on a journey to test their commitment. Separated into two villas, the couples interact with a group of singles to determine if their love is strong enough to withstand the temptations and challenges. Will they return home stronger than ever, part ways and return home alone, or perhaps have formed a new connection with one of the singles?
Banijay Entertainment’s Temptation Island continues to deliver strong performances around the world. The Spanish version last year generated the viral “Montoya Por Favor” moment, and the current run ranks as Telecinco’s #1 show of the day. In the US, Netflix’s second season entered the Global Top 10 English-language series and has been renewed for a third series. In Belgium and the Netherlands, the show has ranked #1 on Streamz every day since launch and has been the #1 title on Amazon Prime Video Netherlands since its premiere.
Kristian Farcin-Leth, CEO, Mastiff Demark says: “Temptation Island is a standout format that captivates audiences with its emotional intensity, compelling relationships, and dramatic twists. Our adaptation will place Danish couples front and centre within a big, bold production, that fully embraces the format’s signature scale and distinctive storytelling.”
Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer, Operations, Banijay Entertainment says: “Temptation Island remains one of our most powerful global reality brands, consistently delivering both ratings and cultural conversation. Its ability to evolve across a variety of platforms, and for a range of local audience tastes, is key to its longevity, and the launch in Denmark marks a promising new chapter for the format.”
Mastiff Denmark is behind a range of premium formats for the local and international market, including a Danish version of Love is Blind, recently announced by Netflix and hit local adaptations of global formats like Survivor, SAS: Who Dares Wins and Portrait Artist of the Year.
