Yellow Bird Sweden Hires Stefan Baron as Head of Business Affairs

10 October, 2018

Yellow Bird, a Banijay Group company, today announces the appointment of Stefan Baron as Head of Business Affairs. Also fulfilling the role of Executive Producer, he will join the business on 1 December 2018.

Baron previously served as Head of International Co-Productions and Executive Producer at Sweden’s Nice Drama, where he was responsible for the international financing of the business’ drama projects and long-term international collaborations. His EP credits there included Alone in Space, Midnight Sun, Hassel and Thicker Than Water. Prior to that, he held a number of positions at Swedish public broadcaster, SVT, including Head of Drama.

Established in Sweden in 2003, Yellow Bird has gone on to become a prolific, internationally-recognised production company. Building its reputation initially by taking Henning Mankell’s renowned fictional detective, Kurt Wallander to screen, the business has rapidly built a reputation as a leading film and television production entity. And, to date, it has been responsible for a number of global hits including Occupied, Asa Larsson’s Rebecka Martinsson, and Stieg Larsson’s Millenium Trilogy. The company is also bringing new title Hidden to MIPCOM.

The latest appointment supports Yellow Bird’s ongoing expansion efforts both in the Nordics and internationally following its recent launch in the U.K.. Baron will report to Yellow Bird Sweden’s CEO, Johannes Jensen.

Jensen comments: “Stefan is incredibly experienced and I’m very much looking forward to working with him and the rest of the team to continue our journey worldwide. Next year, we will have at least five series in production, our U.K. business is set to grow further, and we are pleased to soon share news of further expansion. Stefan’s experience and network will be invaluable as we continue to fulfil our ambitions.”

Baron comments: “I am a firm believer it is never good to sit still. So, after four great years at Nice Drama I have decided to move across the street to Yellowbird. I will miss the closely-knit team at Nice but I’m excited to be part of Yellowbird and Banijay at a time of expansion.”
