31 August, 2018

Bunim/Murray Productions (BMP), a Banijay Group company, and Russell Wilson’s West2East Empire today announced a partnership to develop and produce unscripted programming for a variety of platforms. BMP are the producers of such franchises as The Challenge, The Real World and Keeping Up with the Kardashians as well as award-winning series including Ball in the Family, Bill Nye Saves the World and Born This Way.

As part of the joint venture Wilson will executive produce a U.S. version of Banijay Group’s celebrity adventure format. Airing on TF1 in France, the original series, L’aventure Robinson, featuring two stars stranded on a desert island for five days, was the best performing show on the night of its first outing, attracting 30% more viewers than the slot average.

Entering his seventh season as the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2013, becoming the fourth quarterback in history to win a Super Bowl in his second season. Along with his sports achievements, Wilson has launched many successful entrepreneurial ventures, including the Good Man Brand, a contemporary men’s apparel line, Juice Press, a national juice and health food destination, and a premiere mobile social platform, TraceMe, which connects fans with their favorite celebrities and sports figures. Wilson’s global partnerships include Nike, Microsoft, Bose, Alaska Airlines, Braun, and Wilson Sports equipment.

“Bunim/Murray has a proven track record of success, and we look forward to creating many entertaining and groundbreaking projects with the best in the business,” said Wilson.

“Russell is an incredible athlete whose skills on the field are matched by an impressive business acumen,” said BMP CEO Gil Goldschein. “His natural drive and creativity, coupled with his exceptional brand recognition and media savvy have all of us here at BMP thrilled about this new venture.”
