Temptation Island travels to Germany

28 August, 2018

Banijay Group today confirms its leading controversial reality format, Temptation Island, is set to launch in Germany on RTL and TV NOW. Produced by Banijay Productions Germany, the reality series is set to air in 2019.

The ultimate endurance test, Temptation Island – Temptation in Paradise, will see four couples at a crossroads in their relationships travel to a summer resort where their fidelity is tested in a dramatic manner. Challenging them to spend 14 days without their partners in separated beach resorts while surrounded by a host of attractive singletons, the series examines weather the sun, sea, sand, and attractive bachelors and bachelorettes are enough to tempt them away from their other halves.

Exposed to 336 hours of wild parties, romantic adventures and hot dates, can their relationships withstand the lures of the island? And will the regular bonfire videos highlighting what their partners have been up to elsewhere spark jealousy, revenge and mistrust, or will absence make the heart grow fonder?

The series culminates with an ultimate 24-hour date, where each participant chooses one single to spend the night with. Unveiling whether the taken participants will stray or remain faithful, the final date falls just before the couples are reunited, at which point it is time for emotional declarations, bitter accusations, and the ultimate question: Will they go home together, or go their separate ways?

Based on the original Banijay Rights format, the German remake was jointly commissioned by RTL and TV NOW, Mediengruppe RTL’s video-on-demand service. The format was also recently picked up by USA Network and is set to be produced within the Banijay Group U.S. footprint.

Casting for Temptation Island – Temptation in Paradise is currently underway at RTL.de/Temptation.

Arno Schneppenheim, MD, Banijay Productions Germany: “Temptation Island is an iconic brand for Banijay Rights, having been in over 15 territories worldwide and we can’t wait to bring this dramatic and experimental show back to German audiences via RTL and TV Now. We are also thrilled to be the first production company creating a show specifically for the new service and are pleased it will play home to the ultimate on-screen relationship test.”

Marcus Wolter, CEO, Banijay Germany: “Banijay Productions Germany is going from strength-to-strength and I am so happy to see the team bringing back such an iconic show. With a burgeoning slate, the business is making great steps in becoming a leading player in the German market.”
