Banijay Rights, the leading distribution arm of Banijay Group, will be doubling down on adventure reality formats at MIPCOM, with the company adding newly-acquired reality titan Survivor and revitalised entertainment hit The Crystal Maze to its formats catalogue.
With the acquisition of Castaway Television Productions Survivor, and the revival of The Crystal Maze, Banijay has consolidated its position as the world’s leading producer of adventure reality shows, including Fort Boyard, Temptation Island, 71 Degrees North and The Bravest.
Andrew Sime, VP Formats at Banijay Rights said, “Survivor is one of the strongest brands in television. One of the first reality formats, it continues to play around the world in major territories such as the USA, France and Australia, and has recently found new audiences in Greece and New Zealand. The Crystal Maze is one of the most distinctive and enduring formats ever to have been produced in the UK. Updated for 2017 by Fizz, part of RDF Television, for Channel 4, the format has quickly established itself as a favourite among younger viewers.”
Banijay Rights will also be taking a diverse range of other new formats to MIPCOM created by Banijay Group companies, including Street Food Battle from DRY (Italy), the perfect cooking competition reinvented in a contemporary, urban setting, and newly-recommissioned primetime entertainment contest Celebrity School from Brainpool (Germany).
