Banijay Rights, the leading distribution arm of Banijay Group, has concluded a significant factual deal with Denmark’s TV 2, it was announced today, as the public broadcaster picks up 170 hours of programming for air during 2018.

The deal features a host of brand new licenses for shows including 10 Puppies and Us (RDF Television for BBC Two), a 4 x 60’ series charting the ups and downs of ten puppies and their families through their all-important first six months together, and series two of Saving Lives at Sea (12 x 60’, Blast! Films for BBC Two), which follows the army of unpaid volunteers who put their lives on the line to provide a vital rescue service on Britain’s waters for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

TV 2 has secured series 20 of Location Location Location (17 x 60’, IWC Media for Channel 4), featuring property experts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer as they help more house hunters find the perfect home in the perfect location. The acquisition also includes the relicense of five additional earlier seasons of the long-running property show and three seasons of Secret Dealers (RDF Television for ITV), the show where antique dealers make secret bids against each other for homeowners most valued possessions, before the owners decide what to sell and what to keep.

Ole Stolberg, VP Sales – Nordics at Banijay Rights, commented, “We’re very pleased to see this large package of factual content heading to TV 2 – the deal will see a number of new shows making their debut in Denmark alongside proven favourites returning to screens. This acquisition is a fantastic example of the diverse variety of subject matter in our factual portfolio, yet also showcases the continued over-arching demand for content that features relatable, real-life characters and situations that will appeal to a wide variety of viewers across multiple timeslots.”

TV 2’s Troels Branth Pedersen – Acquisitions Executive said “At TV 2 we are glad to have secured this large package of factual content from Banijay Rights. UK factual travels well to Scandinavia and is a proven success with our viewers, not least due to clever editing and high production values. Therefore, a series like Location Location Location is, in its 20th season, as viable and entertaining as ever, and we are looking forward to sharing it with our viewers”
