Cuarzo Producciones and Constantin Entertainment ink co-production deal to produce the first ever scripted reality show for Spain
Cuarzo Producciones, a Banijay Group company, has entered into a long term co-production agreement with one of Germany’s largest production companies, Constantin Entertainment. The relationship begins this year with the two companies working together to produce the first ever scripted documentary series for Spain.
The (as yet unnamed) 30 episode series, due to air on a Mediaset channel during Spring 2012, is to draw heavily on Constantin Entertainment’s expertise in the popular genre of scripted documentary. Constantin Entertainment has enjoyed a marked success with the genre throughout Europe with productions such as Judge Alexander Hold in Germany and Family Stories, which has been a major hit in Greece and Poland and has gone on to be adapted in Croatia and Serbia.
The scripts for the new production are likely to follow successful themes used in other Constantin Entertainment productions, for example, revolving around a real lead character who is hiding a big secret from his or her family and friends – that is, until it is revealed in the show.
Pedro Rodriguez, Managing Director at Cuarzo Producciones comments, “We are very excited to work alongside such an innovative company as Constantin to bring the first ever scripted documentary series to Spain. Having pioneered the genre in several other markets, we are confident that we have chosen a highly experienced partner to do this ‘hot’ genre justice in Spain. We are excited that the long term deal gives us the opportunity to really learn from Constantin and bring a lot of great television to the Spanish market.”
Christoph von Issendorff, Head of International Division at Constantin Entertainment: “We are extremely proud to have Cuarzo as partner for the co-production of the first scripted documentary series in Spain. The professionalism and creativity of their team will enable our co-production to bring the international success of this new genre to Spain.”
